A full motorcycle licence means you can carry passengers and remove your L -
Plates,and also entitles you ride on the motorways.
The A1 and A2 courses are for those aged 17 years and above.
To do a full licence course you must hold a valid driving licence with category A
entitlement, hold a valid CBT certificate and have passed a motorcycle theory test.
Please Note:
As of April 2009 the new motorcycle test is now in effect. The new test is broken
down into Module 1 and Module 2.
A1 - Motorcycle Licence
The test is taken on a 75cc - 125cc motorcycle
and the licence you aquire is restricted to
motorcycles no larger than 125cc.
A2 - Motorcycle Licence
The A2 licence is more commonly known as the restricted licence.
The test is taken on a 120 - 125cc motorcycle and the full licence you aquire
restricts you for 2 years to a motorcycle with the power output not exceeding
33bhp.
After 2 years you do not need to take any further training, and are no longer
restricted and allows you to ride any size and power motorcycle.
